Focusing On What You Want From Life And
Way To Achieve It
There are times in our life when we have to take big decisions
that may affect the course of our life. There are also times
when we really feel helpless, disoriented and indecisive and
believe we need a hand in order to figure out how to proceed
with our life.
Actually, those are the moments when you should not depend
on someone else’s advice, because, even if they gave a very
sincere advice, in case anything goes wrong, you might blame
them for it. That is why it is best to always take the
decisions by yourself whenever you find yourself at a
crossroad.
Then, how do we know which one to choose? What is best for
us?
There is a way or you can call it a meditation technique that
has been practiced for centuries by people from various part of
the world. Basically, the idea is to find out what we really
want in our life. Then we need to discover all the negative
thoughts that are “attacking” us or constantly being produced
in our minds. When we realize that these unhealthy thoughts or
presumptions are not true, we begin to dump those thoughts and
actually starting to gain control over our decisions and our
lives.
Here’s how the meditation technique works:-
1. Firstly, you need to be away from any source of
distraction, since you are going to analyze your deepest
feelings and thoughts.
2. Secondly, ask yourself a series of questions that will help
you to better determine who you really are and what you really
want. The questions should relate to common daily aspects of
your lives such as:-
- What is more important to me, my family life, my career
or something else?
- What would make me most proud of myself during my
entire life?
- What do I like doing?
- What is it that I always wanted to do but never found
the time? (you can include anything here, from visiting old
school's friends, climbing Mount Everest, or seeing your
dentist).
- What role does money play in my life?
- How much do I depend on others?
All these questions will help you determine exactly where
you stand and what is it that you want out of your life. That
is, to get the right interpretation from your own replies.
If you are worried about a certain decision, let all the
questions be related to that issue.
If you’re just confused when asking the questions, think about
the common topics that you have to deal with during your life.
Be sincere to yourself. Write down the answers.
Mark with a highlighter whatever pride worthy answers you
find and use a darker colored highlighter to mark those that
don’t make you proud.
Post the list on a few places where you can see it often.
You’ll notice that, little by little, even unwillingly, the
things on the list that don’t make you feel proud also start
becoming worthy to you. You can update the list when most of it
has changed “positively” for you.
This is definitely one of the best ways to always be aware of
and achieve your own expectations from life.
All the best to you.
